I am a person.
Matt Glass was born in New Jersey. At the ripe old age of one, his parents randomly decided to move the family to Utah. In his early years, he grew up in a trailer park where he partook in all the latest games and activities such as “smashing old batteries with a hammer while avoiding the used needles on the sidewalk” and “touching the electric fence with various metal objects.”
Matt’s interest in filmmaking began as a youth when he’d borrow his aunt's camera and force his friends to act in his nonsensical movies. Matt studied art and photography, hoping that once he could master single-frame storytelling, he could move on to moving pictures. His cinematic, tableau photography has been featured in magazines such as American Photo and Popular Photography. He's had gallery shows all over the United States. He incorporated music into his photography by writing songs. He eventually received a Masters of Fine Arts degree in 2012 where he finally returned to filmmaking.
His documentary work includes directing and composing for Fallujah: Art, Healing and PTSD and the television series Lost LA, for which he won a directing Emmy Award.
As a versatile narrative filmmaker, Matt's recent feature credits span across disciplines:
As a Director:The Brobecks: Not Dead Yet (Director); Ghosts of the Ozarks (Co-Director); Squirrel (Writer/Co-Director); The Party’s Just Beginning (2nd-Unit Director, BAFTA-nominated).
As a Producer & DP:Where Darkness Dwells (Producer/DP); 12 Hour Shift (Producer/DP - Tribeca Film Festival); Grind (Associate Producer - SXSW).
As a Composer: Matt has written the original scores for nearly all of his own directorial and producing projects, alongside scoring films for creators like Karen Gillan, Rose McIver, Anthony Cousins and Brea Grant.
